Sienna's inspiration came from the Kimberley rock art and colours of ochre. Sienna honours an earth pigment containing iron and manganese oxide, which when heated becomes a deep orange/redish brown. The ochre colour Sienna is found in many Kimberley cave paintings and is widely used by local artists. We are forever inspired by the colours of the Kimberley and the ochres are our earth toned inspiration.
Sienna is constructed on a sinamay pillbox shape covered in hand collected feathers with wired orange feather branches creating height, fixed with a hat elastic and slip comb for perfect positioning on the head.
