Traditional owners of Broome, the Yawuru people live by six seasons, and Laja is the HOT season, the build up to the Wet season. Laja’s matt gold feathers reflect the spinifex grass, and the print sinamay reflects the dry ground cover; with the red silk abaca reflecting the fires and heat of this time of the year.
Nestled in the creation is Laja’s cultured pearl, grown in the south sea waters north of Broome.
