In every Hats by Felicity collection, I honour the beautiful tradition of millinery by restoring a vintage hat - a tribute to the artistry, craftsmanship, and stories that have shaped our trade through time.
This restoration began with a blue base and delicate tulle, labelled ALEX, California.
It came to me from my dear friend Sarah, passed down from her late mum Di’s treasured hat collection.
I gently removed and reshaped the tulle, giving it a new sense of movement and flow, attached to double covered wire. I finished the design with buntal trimming - a personal favourite - bringing together vintage charm and contemporary technique.
Named Hawthorne, after Di’s family property, this piece is a celebration of the past, a nod to the milliners who came before us, and a fresh chapter in a hat’s life now ready to be worn and loved again.
